Katja Daniela Hillebrand graduated in 1997 from the
State Dance Academy in Tashkent, Uzbekistan where she is still performing. She focussed on
the traditional dances of central Asia. Travelling through the regions of the former Silk
Road like Azerbaijan, Xinjiang (eastern Turkistan) and from Kazakhstan to northern India,
she learned and studied thoroughly the various local dances.
Apart from her work as a professional dancer, she devotes a lot
of her time to academical studies about the different regional dances.
She has been trained among others by the well known Uzbek master of ballet Kadir Muminov
(Photo). She has also been a student of Rosia Karimova, Viloyat Akilova, Saiora Turayeva,
Rowia Atadjanova, Shoira Kurbanova, Nasiba Madrahimova, Kunduz Mirkarimova and others.
Today she performs at international festivals and dance shows as a soloist or together
with renowned artists like Ayshegul Muhamet, Tughluk, Djurabek Muradow and many more.
